Community Wall @ Nuwave Gallery

A permanent installation dedicated
to creativity and giving back

The inception of the Nuwave Community Wall stems from Erin Oostra's aspiration to contribute to the community and inspire every member to embrace their creative side.

The concept took shape as she reflected on her own artistic journey, recalling that the primary challenge was simply taking the first step. Whether it involved unpacking paints and paper or elevating her art to public display, Erin recognized the common hurdle of starting something new. Reflecting on her early career, she expresses, "Anytime you embark on a new endeavor, there's a hurdle to overcome. What I aim to assist with is dismantling those barriers, making creativity both exciting and accessible, irrespective of skill level, as I believe exercising these creative muscles contributes to healing."

Situated on the gallery's back left wall, the Community Wall invites individuals to submit an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of artwork for display. Erin explains, "There are 21 frames that open from the front to accommodate interchangeable art. Essentially, anyone, from the age of 5 to 95, can contribute artwork."

Art submitted becomes a donation under Nuwave Gallery's care. A local art-related nonprofit, chosen by Nuwave Gallery, will receive the donations, along with the Fortuity Tasting Room. Two dollars from each limited edition art-focused Fortuity bottle sale, coupled with a portion of all Nuwave art sales proceeds, will be dedicated to supporting that chosen cause.

Here’s what the wall says:

Whether you’re five or ninety-five, a beginner or seasoned pro, wearing yoga pants or a cowboy hat – your art deserves to be seen.

This represents just one avenue through which Erin Oostra intends to contribute through the art gallery. Guided by the words of Martin Luther King Jr. - "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'" - she also contributes by allocating 1% of all earnings to 1% For The Planet, as well as dedicating a percentage of all sales to the quarterly cause.

When you choose to support Nuwave Gallery, rest assured that your purchase extends its benefits to both the local and global community, as giving back holds a central position in Nuwave's core values. Erin Oostra's mission revolves around establishing a space for people to come together and rally behind those actively working to enhance our communities.
