Step into the elegance of Dutch-inspired art with Dutch Revival at Nuwave Gallery, featuring works by Brooke Westlund, Jen Chambers, Aislinn Hematyar, and Erin Oostra. This collection captures the essence of Dutch design—balance, simplicity, and radiant clarity—yet brings a bold, contemporary twist. Each artist reimagines classic Dutch elements with a fresh eye, making this show an exciting visual journey that melds tradition with innovation.
The Netherlands is famed for its minimalist yet dynamic art, much like its welcoming and open culture. Dutch Revival takes these qualities into new territory, blending approachable beauty with a modern edge. Whether you're drawn to the rich textures and movement of nature or the serene, clean palettes and organic strokes, these pieces invite you to experience the blend of past and present in a way that feels both grounded and forward-looking.
Meet the Artists
Brooke Westlund, a Seattle-based artist, has been creating mixed media and abstract paintings for over 13 years in her studio at Pike Place Market. Known for her exploration of texture, color, and form, Brooke’s work invites viewers into a dynamic and immersive visual journey.
Jen Chambers draws from her interpretation of nature, weaving together movement and serenity in her pieces. Her work, known for its calming presence, incorporates heavy textures, organic flowing strokes, and a soothing color palette, creating a balance between abstraction and tranquility.
Aislinn Hematyar, a Central Washington-based artist, is inspired by the delicate interplay between water and color. Her work highlights the way pigments blend and bleed, creating soft, flowing compositions that reflect the movement of water.
Erin Oostra, owner of Nuwave Gallery, is a Pacific Northwest-based artist known for her contemporary mountain and ocean paintings, abstract art, and digital collages. Erin’s work captures the rugged beauty of the natural world, offering a sense of tranquility and inspiration through her bold, atmospheric pieces.
A Unique Fusion of Past and Present
Dutch Revival invites viewers to explore the intersection of tradition and innovation. The show not only pays homage to the balanced, luminous compositions of Dutch art but also brings in the contemporary influences of each artist, creating a bridge between the past and the present. This unique blend of styles offers a fresh perspective on what it means to embrace both the classic and the modern, with each piece reflecting a thoughtful interpretation of Dutch design’s timeless yet experimental nature.
Join us for a special evening at Nuwave Gallery as we proudly present Dutch Revival, an art exhibition featuring the incredible works of Brooke Westlund, Jen Chambers, Aislinn Hematyar, and Erin Oostra. Drawing inspiration from Dutch artistic traditions—particularly its focus on light, nature, and texture—this show reimagines these classic themes with a modern twist. Enjoy live music by local band Xetera, bringing her signature sound to make the night even more memorable!
Xetera (ex•et•er•uh) is an independent artist based in central Washington who performs in the indie / alternative / singer-songwriter sphere. The name Xetera (meaning literally “out of the rest”) sums up her purpose for making music — the search for moments of life & color that interrupt the everyday monotony of existence. Xetera’s sound is a blend of keys, vocals, loopers, synths, and a vocoder whenever humanly possible.
