Presence to Present
Opening Showcase for Nuwave Gallery in Ellensburg, WA
Landscape has a soul and a presence, and landscape – living in the mode of silence – is always wrapped in a seamless prayer. – John O’Donohue
Take a moment here to step back and think about presence in terms of the land before us: The space that surrounds us, the dirt we live on, the air we enjoy every day.
It carries a weight beyond words. This land connects us with the people who have preceded us: tribes, ancestors, founders, and family.
Standing in this historical remembering, we can see we are blessed to be here. Our own human presence being a visible sign of invisible grace.

Just as the land we live on has a soul and presence, so do we. Each one of us is a custodian of a world which we hold within ourselves. Let us not settle for things in our own lives that are safe, but rather engage with the wildness that is our own souls.
May this opening exhibit inspire you to reflect on the land we inhabit – how it guides us in bringing the presence of those before us into our own present. May we embrace the privilege of creating our singularly unique worlds and living in the fullness of who we are.
Inspired by the Central Washington landscape and the writings of John O’Donohue
