Evening Grosbeak in the Pyrocene

28" x 28" mixed media piece highlighting the fragility of birds in the face of climate change. Evening Grosbeak is one of the most vulnerable bird species in Washington state to the impacts of climate change and wildfire. The piece includes watercolor, charcoal, graphite and pastel. The feathers are hand drawn and hand cut, inked with etching ink on a printmaking press, sewn to the main image. By Abbie Birmingham
